Creating, playing and experimenting with art materials at the NAEA convention is always a favorite place to spend hours during the convention. Here are some of the materials I used along with either the projected presented by the company and/or my own creations:
PRANG
I have always used Prang watercolors when teaching and for my personal work. The colors are deep, saturated and juicy! I now have two new favorites, Metallic Watercolors and Metallic Markers.
CONTE A PARIS
I love everything in this line of drawing tools. The conte crayon and charcoal bring back memories from drawing classes and the feel of making marks on large sheets of newsprint paper. The pastel pencils are so smooth that they seem to float on the paper. The pastels are easy to smear to create fields of color. Or, if used like a pencil, will create beautiful flowing lines.
SAX ARTS & CRAFTS
The project that Sax Arts & Crafts presented was creating a mono print using Shrinky Dinks and Caran D’ Ache water crayons. The water based crayons were applied to the sanded side of the Shrinky Dink and it acted as the substrate to take a print. After creating the print the Shrinky Dink itself can be heated using a heat gun, oven or toaster and it shrinks into a plastic charm.
